The South African Cosmos

Drawing of cosmos around a South African mountain by Diane Shearer | Art From Adventures

When South Africa turns pink and white with cosmos flowers, it's time for a road trip

Anyone who has done a road trip around March or November in South Africa has witnessed the explosion of pink and white flowers on the side of the road! This pink and white countryside landscape drawing is very familiar to many South Africans.

Painting cosmos flowers in watercolour was one of my Grans favourite subjects and has always been a familiar sight in my house. Paintings of the famous pink and white flowers in landscapes or flower arrangements were scattered around the house. So, of course, that influenced and inspired me to draw cosmos flowers in my own style.
